A 75-year-old woman has been stabbed to death in her home in London which brings the number of homicides in the capital this year to 122 so far.
The 75-year-old was stabbed to death in a suspected domestic incident in south London.
The victim was named by friends as Maureen Watkins and sadly died after being attacked at a house on Ethnard Road in Peckham shortly after 4 pm on Friday afternoon.
A 55-year-old man who is believed to have known Ms. Watkins, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, told the Press Association the victim had lived in the area for about 30 years.
She said: “She was a lovely lady, a very nice lady indeed,”
Detectives in the Metropolitan Police’s homicide and major crime command are investigating and a spokesperson said.
“The man and the woman were known to each other, No other persons are sought in connection with this incident.”
A police cordon remains in place while forensic officers carry out investigations inside the property.
