Gary Lineker is well known as the multi-million pound presenter of Match of the Day and the face of Walkers crisps. He is also infamous for his extremely liberal views on immigration and on Brexit where he likes to berate the British People for voting for Brexit and holding ‘inappropriate views’.
He has caused even more outrage by going on to a podcast with Remain King ‘Sir’ Nick Clegg and launching a diatribe on Brexit voters claiming that people voting to leave the EU did so because they were ‘brainwashed’!
Pushed on why people voted Leave he responded that they were: “brainwashed by what we read in newspapers and what we hear on TV!” Clegg was lapping it and Lineker elaborated in even more detail and he went on to say:
“I’m pretty confident that my dad would have voted for Leave. So yes, I think we can understand that people are getting disgruntled and people are fed up with certain immigration issues. Europe telling us what to do, though frankly they don’t really.
Obviously, I think as a nation we can be brainwashed by what we read in newspapers and what we hear on TV. Over a period of time, I think that can make people think in a different way to what they would otherwise do. It is going to influence some, there is no question about that. All the people who voted for Brexit have Union Jacks on their twitter handle.
Lineker finished by saying that we are a divided nation. Perhaps instead of mocking people for proudly displaying our nations flag and inferring they cannot think for themselves he should be doing his bit to unite the country rather than snottily mocking 17.4 million people who voted Leave and to take back control.
