©Unity News Network is a News and Grassroots Information Centre established in April 2018 and incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 as a Private Limited Company on 24th of April 2018.

These guidelines describe the values, standards and practices we pursue in our publishing.

Core Values

Four core values guide our work: accuracy, independence, fairness, inclusion.

As a small but growing news organisation there are limitations as to what we can and cannot publish. Survival and revenue generation are key factors in our decision making but with growth comes responsibility to provide a platform for different ideas and views.

Unity News Network is regulated by IMPRESS and adhere to all parts of the Standards Code.

Accuracy

We strive to take all reasonable steps to ensure that everything we publish is accurate and true to the facts. This ranges from the easily confirmed, e.g. the spelling of names, to the nuanced and more debatable, e.g. characterizations of political initiatives.

In practice we maintain high standards of reporting, writing and editing to produce work that is as accurate as possible. We create and edit our journalism in ways aimed at anticipating problem areas, reducing mistakes and correcting them as quickly and transparently as we can.

Independence

We are a completely independent entity not beholden to any external influences. We manage our conflicts of interest and seek to remain free of influences that might interfere with journalism or information that is accurate, fair, transparent, professional and helpful. If any conflicts of interest arise, we will disclose these for complete transparency.

Unity News Network employees do not enter into relationships that compromise the work that we do. This includes relationships with any external individuals, bodies, foreign governments, political parties or entities who may compromise our work unless otherwise stated. If we ever do, these will be disclosed.

Fairness

We strive to act justly, to respect people and their privacy, and to minimize harm. These guidelines serve as checks and balances on the perspectives and personal biases that we bring to our writing.

In practice, we strive to be fair in what we publish and in the ways in which we interact with subjects and consumers of our coverage. We acknowledge that our work is catered to a particular audience but that does not mean we are not able to look objectively at other points of view and work in conjunction with those that hold different perspectives.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Inclusion

Inclusion, equality and diversity are about valuing our people, at all levels, wherever they work and whatever they do.

We believe that promoting and supporting inclusiveness, and making the most of diversity, is not only good for its business, but also creates a safer environment and is the right thing to do.

Organisations that embrace a diverse approach deliver better business results. This is achieved through improved challenge from a wider range of perspectives, greater innovation, better-framed strategies, and decisions that are more robust.

It is the policy of Unity News Network to ensure coverage without discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law and any other vulnerable group. Unity News Network prohibits any such discrimination or harassment.

We acknowledge that we write upon and discuss difficult and topical issues in relation to mass migration, identity politics, social issues and much more.

As an organisation we are open that editorially we are supportive of the decision of the United Kingdom to Leave the European Union. We seek to explore the myriad of issues that led to the vote and the social factors surrounding it. That being said we will not misrepresent or distort the facts to allow readers to make their own decisions.

We strive to do this in a manner that provokes debate whilst having zero tolerance of hate speech. We totally abhor all forms of violence and intimidation and stress at all times against this. We set strict filters on our social media channels and call where possible, call out behaviour that does not meet our values. Any comments that breach our values will be removed once we have been notified.

Free Speech is extremely important to us but we recognise that this comes with responsibilities and limitations and we fully accept and support the terms and conditions laid down by our social media partners such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram etc.
