Jacob Rees-Mogg MP has launched a scolding attack on Prime Minister Theresa May and her Brexit deal outlining how he would have negotiated a better deal for the United Kingdom.
Speaking on the BBC Mr Rees-Mogg told his host, Simon McCoy that Mrs Mays deal was no use stating that she had “not negotiated competently”
“She never should have accepted the structure of the negotiations set out by the European Union – that we had to negotiate some things first.
We have allowed the European Union to say it can’t discuss the future arrangements and then have agreed to a backstop.
But the backstop is a future arrangement, which apparently you can’t agree to.
So, we have allowed the European Union to run rings around us.”Jacob Rees-Mogg MP
Mr Rees-Mogg continued to blast Prime Minister May saying:
“The Prime Minister is a
Remainerand never really wanted to Leave,
and she said recently, which is quite an interesting comment, she said that people who believe in leaving without a deal should be honest about the risks that come from that.
Now that really square with her going around saying no deal is better than a bad deal.
If she always thought that leaving without a deal was so dangerous, why did she go on and on about no deal being better than a bad deal? One of her statements can’t be strictly accurate.”Jacob Rees-Mogg MP
Yesterday the Conservative MP for South-East Somerset also attacked the Prime Minister over her Brexit deal.
“WHAT HAS TWO YEARS OF THERESA MAY DOING BREXIT AMOUNTED TO? AN UNDELIVERABLE DEAL PARLIAMENT WOULD ROUNDLY
REJECT,IF THE PRIME MINISTER HAS THE GUMPTION TO ALLOW IT TO GO BEFORE THE HOUSE OF COMMONS.
THIS IS NOT GOVERNING, IT RISKS PUTTING JEREMY CORBYN INTO GOVERNMENT BY FAILING TO DELIVER BREXIT. WE CANNOT CONTINUE LIKE THIS.
THE PRIME MINISTER MUST EITHER GOVERN OR QUIT.”Jacob Rees-Mogg MP
