Nigel Farage found himself in a clash with someone who called into his LBC radio show, the caller claimed she holds Nigel “responsible” for the UK “taking away her right” to work. Mr Farage responded by slamming Angela Merkel for her role in the European mass immigration crisis and saying we do not want the free movement of people into the United Kingdom.
Mr Farage took a call from a person who has benefitted from free movement, they blamed him for the loss of it after Brexit.
The caller who was named Katherine said: “To work in the EU as a European citizen, I now see this right being taken away from me. There is a great number of us who have now been left in the dark. A certain responsibility for that lies with you, Mr Farage.”
However, Farage was quick to fire back stating that lots of Germans worked in the United Kingdom pre-1972 before we joined the now called European Union.
There were as many British people working in Germany in 1972 before we joined the European Union.
As there were in 1992, 20 years after we had joined.
You don’t have to be a member of the European Union to work in another country, do you.
The caller went on to complain about the loss of common sense in Brexit negotiations and asks Mr Farage, “what has happened to the value of free movement in Europe.”
Mr Farage replied to the caller:
We don’t want it Katherine, no Katherine, we don’t want it.
If you want to look at new at new political forces, I would argue that they have been caused by free movement.
Look at Germany, look at Sweden and look at what is happening, look across the entire western world.
There is absolutely no question we have seen the birth of new political movement because of excess free movement.
There is no question that Mrs Merkel’s career will end on a very low note because of what she did on the issue of immigration.
