Remainers plan anti-Brexit protests amid meltdown over Parliament suspension

A figure who many may never have heard of, Hendrik Klaassens, a Dutch pensioner created the hashtag that is now synonymous with the remain movement. Mr Klassens stated on twitter “Follow Back Pro EU #FBPE”. Mr Klaassens didn’t even have Britain in mind when he wrote this tweet however within days, anti-Brexit forces had begun using the hashtag.

This hashtag, over the last 3 years appears to have increasingly turned hostile to anyone outside of that movement. There are tedious daily allegations of racism, hyper-nationalism, xenophobia, with many Twitter users being labelled Neanderthals, knuckle-draggers or mentally deficient. These insults all appear to follow one theme, that they all dehumanise leave supporters.

Remain forces, backed publicly by ideological leaver and leader of the opposition Jeremy Corbyn are set to take to the streets this weekend in many cities up and down the UK to protest against Boris Johnson deciding to prorogue parliament for 3 days in order to set out his new government’s domestic agenda. Many remain forces are furious with Mr Johnson for a perceived attack on democracy. This comes against the backdrop of a clear attempt to frustrate a democratic vote for over 3 years.

Brexit is without doubt seismic political, legal, economic, constitutional, geopolitical, financial, trade and commercial decision, which needs to be carefully contemplated. However, following the abdication of responsibility on a decision traditionally taken by political elites many are incandescent that their instructions have not been carried out. The result of the referendum has been subconsciously classified by many remain elites as being won by ‘gammon’ delinquents invaded the private members’ area of their way of life. The fury they felt in 2016 has dissipated and their actions now are classed by many as being actions of spite and malice.

The contributions section of the Telegraph epitomises how many feel currently on Brexit. Jackie Perkins from Kent wrote “I am also sure that most of us expected our MPs to abide by the referendum result. This is no longer just about Brexit. It’s about the behaviour of our elected representatives – and the future of our democracy.”

Protesters are expected to take to the streets of Britain this weekend in response to the prime minister, Boris Johnson’s controversial plan to prorogue parliament.

Organisers are hoping hundreds of thousands of people will take to the streets today after demonstrations began to flare up yesterday evening.

Anti-Brexit campaign group, Another Europe Is Possible, has planned 32 #StopTheCoup protests to take place in England, Scotland and Wales. Left-wing group Momentum is also calling on its members to “occupy bridges and blockade roads” in conjunction with unrest on the streets.

Former euro-sceptic shadow Chancellor John Mcdonnell said: “As elected Labour MPs across the country represent their constituents by joining in these protests, I urge other MPs to think of their constituents whose jobs and livelihoods will be put at risk in a no-deal Brexit.

“If Boris Johnson wants a mandate, then he should call a general election and put it to the people.”
