Unity News Network has obtained footage of key figures at the European Union discussing the Irish backstop in a very interesting way. The footage appears to show Michel Barnier suggesting that the so-called ‘Irish backstop’ is created as a means of stopping Brexit. In the video, Mr Barnier says, “for me, there is a strategic and tactical reason, which is using Ireland for future negotiations”. For many, the Irish backstop is a key sticking point with the withdrawal agreement. In the mainstream media, the narrative is pushed that the backstop is part of the package of a withdrawal agreement.
The group of gentlemen that are discussing the talks do warn “we have to be careful what the reaction will be”. Does this suggest that these actions are at best controversial? There are many who do not want a deal. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that Britain’s most likely means of leaving the EU is via a deal voted for by parliamentarians. Those who watch this video, especially Irish nationals are likely to be incandescent that their nation is being used as a political pawn.

Nigel Farage describes the withdrawal agreement as a new EU treaty and this video certainly gives credence to this view. Are the mainstream media covering these revelations? Not yet. UNN has been contacted by a well-known figure within the Brexit movement who describes this agreement as “putting lipstick on a pig”. The withdrawal agreement does not allow Britain to make free trade deals. UNN has obtained a lot of footage of leading EU figures seeming to mock Britain, this footage has angered many however these revelations are not being covered by the old media. Last week the Conservative party peer Jonathon Hill “I spoke to an EU ambassador a couple of days ago who said ‘we don’t understand what the backstop is, we don’t care about the backstop, we would be perfectly happy for the Irish to drop the backstop, but so long as they want it, we’re with the Irish”. These comments beg the question as to why this is stopping Britain, which is separate of Ireland leaving the EU.
