Drama as remainers set to vote against Parliament sitting on Saturday

A day of high drama is currently underway at Westminster with the fallout from Dominic Grieve trip to Brussels continuing. Conflicting reports exist around Boris Johnson getting a deal but it all hinges on DUP support that is looking not so solid.

Blogger Guido Fawkes has highlighted that the remain establishment are so afraid of a deal bing passed they themselves will vote against an emergency sitting@

HuffPo’s Paul Waugh is reporting that Labour and their rebel alliance are planning to vote against Parliament sitting and having its say on Boris’s new deal if he brings one back this Saturday, as they fear Boris will use the House’s endorsement of a deal to bypass the Benn Act. Now all of a sudden Remainers want to deny Parliament having its say – they’ve never been subtle about showing their true motives…

It’s still likely Parliament’s unusual Saturday sitting will go ahead, however this jitter clearly shows the fear Remainers now have that Boris is on the verge of clinching a deal and securing Brexit. Might be worth giving Lady Hale a call…

This of course could lead to even more constitutional uncertainty but the bookies odds currently sit at only a 1 in 5 chance of the UK exiting the EU on the 31st of October. There would be a significant sense of irony of remainers voting against Parliament sitting considering the legal challenge by Gina Miller to ensure Parliament would sit.
