I am sure we can all agree that a lot has happened during the past 12 months, the level of political deception and pantomime surrounding Brexit rose to fever pitch.
We all watched open mouthed as our Parliamentarians unleashed unadulterated open warfare against the people and our historic vote – it was like witnessing a hostage suffering from a severe case of stockholm syndrome – the more the EU bullied and threatened our country the more loyal and entrenched out politicians became (both past and present).
The Article 50 exit date of 29th March 2019 came and went with Britain still held captive inside the EU institutions.
In April we saw The Yvette Cooper/Oliver Letwin Bill passed – named the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2019 (or more controversially the Surrender Act), which effectively took “no deal” off the table and forced the Prime Minister to seek an extension with the European Union.
However there are many people (including Stanley Brodie of Lawyers for Britain a practising Barrister with 60 years experience, 40 of those serving as Queen’s Counsel), who believe we left the European Union on 29th March 2019 he states:
“Prime Minister Theresa May’s request under Article 50 for an extension of the UK’s EU membership until 30 June 2019 was legally valid; however, it was rejected by the EU.
He reasons that the counter-proposal by the EU did not comply with the terms of the proviso to Art.50(3) TEU, and accordingly it was not effective in law to stop the Article 50 process running up to and including 29 March 2019 at 11.00pm. He concludes:
Whichever way one looks at it, the Agreement was either unlawful or made for an unlawful purpose or ultra vires. This means the UK left the EU on 29th March 2019 by default as there was no valid or lawful impediment to prevent it.”
Yet here we are at the end of 2019, following a further two elections the European election held in May which saw the newly formed Brexit party receiving the highest vote share at 32% becoming the largest party in the European Union with 29 seats and then ending the year on a seismic General Election with the Tories “Get Brexit Done message” smashing it with a historic landslide victory. How many times do we have to tell them to get on with it?
One delicious point to note following the General Election is that all 17 Remainer MPs who changed their parties lost their seats and all of their legal game playing has now become as irrelevant as they are!
We have not won the war on Brexit yet – the only way to leave swiftly and negotiate from a position of strength is to leave on the WTO GATT24 option. If the Surrender Treaty passes through Parliament and we enter the implementation phase the EU will have us just where they want us.
Our MEPs will depart on 31st January leaving the EU free to inflict damaging new laws upon us in order to send out a warning shot to other member states and avoid a mass exodus it would also give remainers the ammunition to campaign to rejoin.
In 2020 we will have to keep up the democratic pressure on Boris to deliver!
2. Freedom of Speech/Hate Crimes
George Orwell “If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear”
This year has seen a massive curtailing of freedom of speech with social media giants introducing new algorithms and shadowbanning predominantly it would appear on Brexiteers and those with conservative views – some 3,000 people are arrested each year for “offensive” comments posted online. People such as myself have been removed from Facebook without any reason given or any right to redress.
We have seen the “hate crime” agenda pushed harder with many people being reported and some charged and arrested for “wrong think and hurty words”.
In January 2019, Harry Miller, a 53 year old former Police Officer was investigated by Humberside Police for retweeting a poem which was anonymously reported as “offensive and transphobic”.
Miller asked the visiting officer if he had committed a crime, to which he stated “you have not committed a crime but your tweeting is being recorded as a non-crime hate incident and I am here to check your thinking. Essentially offensive speech or behaviour is investigated by police and recorded in cases where no crime has been committed, irrespective of whether there is any evidence to identify the hate element and kept on record. The consequences of which could prejudice your future career prospects and earning capacity.
Harry Miller has decided to bring a case against the Humberside Police and the College of Policing whose Hate Crime Operational Guidance (HCOG) form the basis of current practice.
In December we also saw the case of Brexiteer Amy Dalla Mura who was jailed for 28 days over the Christmas period for calling Anna Soubry a Traitor and a chicken.

Analysis
I believe we are witnessing an ever increasing number of political convictions and persecution for having the “wrong political beliefs”. When the Police and Judiciary fail to behave in a politically neutral manner we are veering into authoritarianism which ultimately leads to a loss of freedom and liberty.
This must be robustly tackled in 2020 – it will be very interesting to see the outcome of the Harry Miller Judicial review as this will be a landmark case and could have far reaching consequences in the protection of our right to freedom of speech and expression.
3. Climate Change/Climate Emergency
This year we witnessed the launch of the climate change brigade from the unleashing of the angry teenager Greta Thunberg to the prolonged and unlawful activity of the well funded militant mob Extinction Rebellion.
We have seen the Bank of England Governor Mark Carney appointed as United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance, he issued a warning “firms ignoring the climate crisis WILL go bankrupt.

The new EU President Ursula Von Der Leyen has been praised for being much more strategic than people give her credit for due to her major push on climate change. Bulgarian Political analyst Ivan Krastev stated that move is allowing the EU to reinvent its “soft power”.
He said that closing markets to goods that don’t respect green criteria could be a way to justify a certain type of protectionism. Ms Von der Leyen has so far been very good at using her green agenda to reinvent the European Union.
Analysis
This year we have witnessed the hysteria surrounding the so called “climate emergency” this will I believe be ramped up further in 2020 by the globalist elite who are losing their grip on the Brexit issue and urgently need another tool to keep control of the people whilst creating a lucrative revenue stream for the big banks and Global Corporate bodies. In the words of Piers Corbyn “climate activism is merely a redistribution of wealth from the bottom to the top”. This will hit the working class hard.
We can clearly see from Mark Carney and the EU’s response that the Globalists will be forcing companies to embrace their Green Agenda or face the consequences.
In 2020 we will face some massive challenges if we want to take back control of our country, our liberty and our finances from the Globalist cabal but I am confident that the people will rise to the challenge and together we will win.
