Coronavirus – The real risks and how to avoid them

Some readers may have seen the broadcast when I gave some predictions about the coronavirus now known as COVID19. On that broadcast, my analysis was that the Chinese were not only trying to conceal the true scale of the problem but also the real source of the infection. 

I am not going to further examine these aspects as you can read all this on Zerohedge and other blogs, the truth is that we will never find out the truth as there are too many vested interests who would rather we remained ignorant. There are also too many complicit news agencies who will decide in advance what the people need to know and alter their coverage to suit their own agendas.

Instead of trying to piece together a mass of riddles I am going to concentrate on what we can prove to be correct using simple intuitive deduction and statistical evidence from reliable sources. So here are some starting points from where we will extrapolate.

1. The virus spreads both through contact and aerosol routes, the spread of the virus through the cruise ship Diamond Princess shows that the virus is highly transmissible. 
2. Much of China’s industrial capacity is now either offline or working well below normal output. 
3. There is a vast gap between the Chinese reports of their success in controlling the virus and the evidence leaking out via social media and other routes.

For people living in less densely populated areas, the risk is reduced and for the majority of us the risk from this virus and the direct risk of infection can be reduced greatly using some simple techniques. What I want to discuss is what the news will not analyse in any detail, and that is that with the Chinese industrial base crippled entire sections of industry will slow down and the economic impact of this will affect everyone. What needs to be understood is that globalism means that you produce your goods at the lowest possible cost and in most cases that means China. Even when you build your products in other countries you can guarantee that many of your parts are sourced from China. Car producers are already preparing to scale back or shut down production because the parts made in China are simply not there to put in the vehicles. 

In any normal world, these delays would be bad enough but in a globalised economy where debt is piled upon debt and where perpetual economic growth is the prerequisite for survival, it is nothing short of catastrophic.  The problem is that industry and production has become subordinate to economic markets and essentially taken for granted. When those industries stop working the markets built on top of them simply collapse.

In my article ‘the digital dark age’ I described a possible scenario where the internet and online services we have come to depend upon suddenly aren’t there and why it is necessary to prepare for such an eventuality and have strategies to cope. What we could be facing now could be just as serious, where critical goods we take for granted are just not there to be bought.

If you’re reading this then you’re probably not a fan of big governments and are sceptical of their ability to effectively manage our affairs. If that is your view then a logical progression from that view is that you should not rely on the government to look after you if things get tough. Do not be one of those people you see in the news sitting in their home complaining that this or that happened and no one is helping them. 

Preparing for tough times is the responsibility of everyone who truly wishes to be free, if you’re going to fall back on government resources then you’re a client of that government and subject to their rules. My advice is don’t put yourself in that category, please give the video a watch – this man knows his onions.
