Calling out the Mainstream media misinformation on the ‘sacked’ carer

MSM titles all across the UK are today running with headlines ‘MP Nadia Whittome ‘sacked’ as carer after ‘speaking out’ about PPE’ (BBC), ‘Youngest Labour MP is SACKED by care home she returned to work at during coronavirus crisis after exposing the lack of PPE’ (Daily Mail) with several other titles running very similar headlines. 

However, UNN has received information that claims, what is across the MSM is “media misinformation”. One social media user Eric Siva Jothy has posted that this story is “another great example of media misinformation, where the headline is the focus and not the actual facts to convey a new myth”. 

UNN’s Oliver Down has been doing some digging on this story and has unearthed some startling information. Whilst it is true that Ms Whittome was the youngest MP elected in 2019 at the age of 24. Ms Whittome, the MP for Nottingham East has been accused by the ExtraCare charitable trust, who run the home she was volunteering at, of “spreading misinformation about the lack to protective equipment available to staff”. 

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust has also told Ms Whittome that her “help is no longer needed”. A spokesperson for ExtraCare has pulled no punches when it says “At Lark Hill, we have over three months’ supply of PPE, including over 25,000 pairs of gloves, 7,700 aprons and nearly 6,000 masks – we have access to further equipment should we need it”. 

 This statement also added it “no longer needed” Nadia Whittome MP’s help as a casual worker because its own in-house cover was enough. These headlines ran by numerous MSM titles can be easily debunked with simple research and some may question by Ms Whittome MP’s word was taken as indisputable fact, seemingly without any due diligence being done at all.
