Police are investigating after a brutal gang of masked robbers stabbed a homeowner and attacked his family during a horrific home invasion.
Four armed robbers attacked the family in their own home in Slingfield Road, West Heath as the city entered its ninth week of the Covid-19 lockdown on Monday morning (May 18).
The gang forced their way into the house before attacking the whole family in a brutal home robbery.
The mother, in her 40s, was smashed over the head with a metal bar before her daughter, in her 20s, was punched in the face.
Attackers then stabbed the father in the chest, leaving him with serious injuries – though not believed to be life-threatening.
The four made off with electronic equipment and personal belongings in what was said to be an ‘isolated incident’.
Police have since reached out to residents within the street to urge witnesses or anyone with CCTV footage to come forward as soon as possible.
No arrests have been made as of Saturday, May 23 and officers are continuing to investigate.
A full statement from West Midlands Police read: “We’re investigating after a man was stabbed and two others injured during a robbery in Slingfield Road, West Heath.
“Four masked robbers forced their way into a house at just after 11am on Monday (18 May).
“A woman in her 40s suffered a cut to her head after being hit with a metal bar while a woman in her 20s was punched in the face and also sustained a cut.
“A man in his 50s was then stabbed in the chest although his injuries were not life-threatening. The men made off with electronic equipment and personal belongings.
“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact us via live Chat or by calling 101. Quote 20BW/114417W/20.”
