Anarchists have spray painted abuse on the home of Jacob Rees-Mogg and left a purple dildo on his car. Pictures showed ‘posh scum’, ‘shut up and die’ and ‘****head’ written across his windows and garage in West Harptree, Somerset. Condoms were also left on grass that surrounds the Conservative MP’s home in the attack on Wednesday night.

Mr Rees-Mogg, his wife Helena and two of his children were not at home at the time as they are currently in New York on holiday. An insider said his housekeeper sent him photos when she found his home in a bad state on Thursday. Rees-Mogg, 49, MP for North East Somerset, shrugged off the incident that was blamed on left wing extremists after an anarchy symbol was left on a vehicle on the property.

He told one newspaper: “It appears to be someone who can’t hold their drink — and probably not Catholic. However, it has all been cleared up so this drunken protest will not even have a short-term effect.”

A spokesperson for the Police said:

We’re investigating a report of criminal damage at a property in West Harptree. The incident happened sometime between 4pm on Wednesday, 1 August and 8am on Thursday 2 August. Graffiti was sprayed on a building and a car, while damage was also caused to the garden. House to house enquiries have been carried out while crime scene investigators have attended. Enquiries are ongoing.”
