Nigel Farage has revealed what he believes to be the “greatest betrayal” of Brexit so far. Speaking on his LBC show Mr Farage picked apart how Theresa May was handling the negotiations.

Speaking to a caller named Dave, Mr Farage said: “You know what we could do? All that water around this island, we could start catching our own fish and eating them too. That wouldn’t be bad, would it?”

Dave responded: “You’re absolutely right. I was up in Greater Yarmouth last week, and let me say, the fishermen are spitting blood up there, Nigel.”

Mr Farage then continued: “I think the greatest betrayal so far is of our coastal communities. It is clear to me that they have absolutely zero intentions of taking back control of our territorial waters.”

Mr Farage has previously railed against the Government’s treatment of the fishing communities.

Mr Farage has said that, although the Government’s paper initially looks promising, the fine print of the proposals show that Prime Minister Theresa May “is not interested in taking back control over UK territory”.

Under the plans, British fishermen will face annual negotiations to secure their fishing rights in shared waters from 2020.

Earlier this month, he said: “They are guilty of total deception of the fisheries issues. I feel really, really angry about how this Prime Minister is deceiving us.”
