First Secretary of State and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has claimed companies insisting that their staff have the Covid vaccine before returning to work are using a “smart policy”.
US tech giants including Netflix, Google and Facebook are reportedly making it mandatory for employees to be fully jabbed before going into the office, ahead of an anticipated back-to-work push this autumn. The London-based firm Pimlico Plumbers was among the first to announce a “no jab, no job” policy earlier this year.
Mr Raab backed the move however cautioned that firms should use “sensitive language” when encouraging staff back.
“We want everyone to be double jabbed,” he added. “I can understand why that would be a smart policy, but whether [mandating vaccines should be made] hard and fast legal rules, we would need to look at that carefully.
“The message in this country… globally, is get vaccinated. Life gets back to normal if people have two jabs”
Mr Raab did not rule out insisting on two jabs to work at the Foreign Office, although noted that those with health conditions would have to be considered.
