AT LAST! A left wing lockdown sceptic movement emerges

Last Saturday I8th September, I attended the inaugural meeting of Left Lockdown Sceptics, an organisation which has had an online newsletter and website for many months, but finally decided to gather the supporters together in person.

I had been invited to attend a couple of weeks previously and knew that being on a Saturday, it would inevitably conflict with one of the many freedom from lockdowns and vaccine coercion activities which would be taking place on that day. Sadly I could not go to all of them, but the positive about the fight against this authoritarian government is that the opposition movement has grown so strong that there are resistance events going on throughout the United Kingdom all at the same time.

For instance David Clews of Unity News was at a new protest in Aberdeen, there was a major march in London, to name but a few. Indeed Left Lockdown Sceptics organised another meeting on the same day in Manchester.

Interestingly the meeting  was held in an anti-lockdown Church, which reminds us that there is resistance in all parts of society, it is just the mainstream media never tell us these things. One of the organisers, a choir leader, informed the meeting that the Church had carried on as normal during the pandemic.

Prior to attending the Left Lockdown Sceptics event I had been impressed with the articles they published, and had shared quite a few of them with my contacts and on social media.

As I have done political commenting on party political conferences for a few years, I am well used to such parties having many political sides to them. In 2019 I remember the Labour party having a small fringe meeting for those who supported the UK leaving the EU. That is just one of many examples. It is a fallacy to think that members of a political party always support every single one of their party’s policies. It was true about the EU and is true of many issues.

It is just incredibly sad and indeed appalling that all the mainstream political parties have supported the lockdowns, their related measures and the coercive covid-19 vaccines roll outs.

It is left to a minority in these parties to put up some opposition, and it is clear they have very much failed in that respect.

Those on the Lockdown Left could include also those of Green or Liberal Democratic persuasion , who had become disillusioned with the approach of their parties to lockdowns.

In fact many in Left Lockdown Sceptics had become so fed up with the attitude of the Labour, Communist and other parties on  the “left,” that they had left them some time ago in disgust.

That does not apply to all their supporters, and some have still maintained some form of contact with their former favoured political parties, but it gives an indication of the strength of feeling on the way the established parties had handled the covid crisis.

The meeting commenced on Saturday morning with the speakers and then the audience briefly introducing themselves. I found this most interesting as there was quite a variety of personal backgrounds, perspectives, and political histories. Some I had met before or knew of because of their involvement in the broad freedom from lockdowns movement. It was inspiring to see both known and unknown faces getting together to launch this new anti- lockdowns campaign group.

Some people said they felt that people like Toby Young of Lockdown Sceptics had too much given the impression that opposition to lockdowns was solely the domain of those on the “right,” and that the launch of Left Lockdown Sceptics would address that imbalance.

Ironically, a number said that they supported a lot of what Toby Young said, but that was in line with a general feeling expressed that new political alliances were now being formed.

The key point about Left Lockdown Sceptics is that it should help draw in those on the “left” who have felt politically homeless since the start of this crisis, and generally boost the freedom from lockdowns movement generally.

As regards the meeting content, which went on until late afternoon, there was much comment on issues such as concepts of “left” and “right,”, capitalism, globalism, the 4^th Industrial Revolution, privilege, mainstream political parties, Marxism, Communism, Nazism, Fascism, financial control, a new feudalism, State control, role of the state and control of the media, government psychological tactics, corruption, profitability, liberties, keeping people imprisoned in their own homes, human rights, equal rights, women’s rights, democracy, equality, freedom, personal health choices and health generally, to name just a few!

There was a firm view that the working classes were being ignored by the establishment and that there was a need to “reclaim the legitimacy of the left.” It was felt that generally the Unions were letting the employees down and there needed to be a way to better influence the attitude of the Unions.

It was said that the middle classes had largely let the working classes down, had been complaint and had been policing the working classes.

There had also been the view that those people who were against “hate speech,” now use hate against anti-lockdown supporters.

Things which had become obvious were dismissed as simply “conspiracy theories.”

The opinion that profit and improved health are at odds with each other was very much supported. That it was wrong to put money into big pharma rather than hospitals. Also was the view that covid can be treated in many ways, that natural immunity is vital and that covid-19 vaccines are experimental and not the answer.

It was also stated that many people had been slow in getting involved with the anti-lockdown movement because of a perception that it was associated with the Toby Young “right” views, when in fact it was much broader based.

Now it was felt that the battle for freedom could not be won by political niches and that a broader strategic reach was needed to bring about victory.

Unity was the way forward and it was necessary to deal with the psychopaths who are running the country.

It was very apparent to me that there was an atmosphere of realism at the meeting about how both their organisation and the freedom from lockdowns movement can progress in the future. There was definitely a feeling of urgency. Certainly also one of wanting to work in unison to play their part in this unique and proud UK wide movement to regain our freedoms and liberties. For that movement to work as one alliance or coalition requires respect, tolerance, understanding and leadership by example. I am more and more feeling that is what is going to happen and we will defeat this government of globalist oppressors.

With many people coming and going from the meeting, due to attending other events, I think there could have been about 70 people there. The organisers seemed to count simply those who were there for the whole event.
