UK health secretary, Sajid Javid, claimed that England was facing its last chance to avoid a return of coronavirus restrictions this winter as he urged people to take booster jabs and exercise greater caution.
Speaking yesterday at a briefing Sajid Javid said: ‘We’ve reached a milestone of four million top up jabs in England…we’ve got the jabs, we just need the arms to put them in…not just to save lives, but to keep your freedoms.’
He claimed further coronavirus restrictions will need to be imposed if people do not have a booster jab and get ‘serious about face masks’, further to this, he predicted cases could hit 100,000 a day this winter.
Javid has insisted that “life is not back to normal” as he urged people to take precautions such as meeting outdoors and regular lateral flow testing.
The Times reported ‘In a downbeat Downing Street briefing warning of darker months and new variants ahead, Javid sought to shock people into remembering that “this pandemic is not over” while forecasting a sharp rise in daily cases.’
