Channel 4 last night aired a ‘mockumentary’ on the topic of eating human flesh.
Gregg Wallace sat down with a chef to discuss the taste of the meat harvested from various donors, as he asked his dining companion to try to guess the age and occupation of each person they were eating.
Then, Gregg met the CEO of Good Harvest, which is launching a new product range made from extracting meat from living people for money.
Gregg Wallace told viewers “I’m in a human meat factory in Lincoln to explore a novel solution to the cost of living crisis”
Good Harvest donors were then told which parts of their body could be sold for meat, and how much it would yield for them.
Channel 4 ended the programme with a message for anyone who might not have realised it was ‘satire’.
The voiceover on the credits told viewers ‘for more satire, go to Brass Eye on Channel 4’, just in case anyone was still not seeing the point of the sendup by the end of the seemingly alarming programme.
Except {{recipient.first_name_or_friend}} this wasn’t ‘satire’ or a ‘metaphor’ it was pre-programming of people to make this seem acceptable. If they were going to do a satire on the topic of the cost of living why do something as sick as this? Remember how this all started with insects and bugs a few years ago and people used to laugh? Well they aren’t laughing now as they are pushing this on to the diet of us in the West how rightly should be appalled. I am in no doubt that this programme was to get people talking and joking about it when in a few years they will be promoting cannibalism.
