War is coming – be in no doubt about that. Of course, it has already begun, in the West’s proxy war against Russia, fought with the blood and guts of Ukrainian men, and in the destruction of Gaza by Israel. But so far the UK, USA and European Union have provided support in words and weaponry but no boots on the ground. That will change, early next year.
As predicted by David Clews on UNN, I believe that World War Three will be fought not primarily against Russia but against Iran.
The hordes of Muslim immigrants to Europe will find that rather than coming here for a better life, they will be conscripted to fight for their host country. Not an easy sell, you might think – particularly if the adversary is a Muslim country. .But that would be naïve, because there is as much conflict within the Islamic world as without.
The book Black Wave: Saudi Arabia, Iran and the Rivalry that Unravelled the Middle East, by Kim Ghattas (2020), is a useful guide to how World War Three will start.
‘The House of Saud had used its custodianship of Mecca and Medina to claim leadership of Muslims everywhere, using the pilgrimage as a conduit for its influence around the Muslim world. Wanting to welcome an ever-increasing number of pilgrims all year long to the hajj, it had embarked on huge expansion projects, bulldozing and paving over ancient, religiously significant sites. Medina – where Islam was born – was already lost to savage modernisation. The old roads, once lined with stucco houses, their facades ornamented with delicate wooden latticework, had been replaced with multi-lane streets and modern, soulless buildings.’
The holy sites of Arabia are prime targets for terrorists driven by belief that modern Saudi Arabia is corrupt and immoral. As Ghattas described, attacks on Mecca and Medina by Iran or its sympathisers have been done before. .
During morning prayers on 20th November 1979, three hundred gunmen took control of the mosque at Mecca, the holiest site in Islam. Snipers in the minarets shot police officers as they approached the mosque. When news of the siege reached the outside world, the Americans suspected Iran, while Ayatollah Khomeini suggested an American or Zionist plot. The Saudi government bowed to pressure and confirmed that the culprits were not foreigners, but ‘a gang that deviate from the path of Islam’ (in fact, they were Sunni fundamentalists). On 4th December the siege ended after Saudi forces raided the mosque with tear gas. Officially, 117 rebels, 26 pilgrims and 127 troops died.
Another strike on Mecca will inflame the Sunni majority. Yet the Iranian government has nothing to benefit from attacking its rival at this time. It does not want war with the West. But the Sunni-Shia divide provides a credible story for the outbreak of global military conflict.
A false-flag incident will be a recruiting sergeant for millions of Muslims in the West. They will drop their barber’s scissors, carwash sponges and kebab tongs to sign up in the name of Allah. Conscription will be relatively straightforward in the collectivist culture of Islam.
The British army has been deliberately run down to the current state, in which its fighting ability would be exhausted within a few weeks. The New Model Army will be mostly comprised of recent incomers, including the fighting-age men who are ferried across the English Channel every day and housed in hotels. Why otherwise are they being brought here in such unprecedented numbers?
So, the drumbeating for war will pivot to Iran. Keir Starmer will play his part in gradually ramping up the tension. But it will not be until Donald Trump is reinstalled at the White House for declaration of war. A mass carnage at Mecca, soon into Trump’s second presidency, would be the starting pistol.
It’s like 1914 again, but with different actors. The culprits will be in the guise of Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hezbollah or other pro-Iranian paramilitaries. But as usual the real killers will be agents of the CIA. .
