A teenage boy has been arrested by police following the rape of a 14-year-old girl near a park.
She was walking near Westleigh Park in Leigh, Wigan, between 16:00 BST and 17:30 BST on Thursday when she was approached.
Her attacker pulled her into bushes and escaped afterwards, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
A 14-year-old boy was held on suspicion of rape on Saturday according to a Police Spokesperson.
While people in the area will continue to see an increased police presence this evening and over the coming days, I would like to stress that we don’t consider there to be any wider threat to the public following this attack.
At this stage of our investigations we are not seeking anyone further in connection with this incident.”
He added that the girl was receiving specialist care.
