George Soros says his money was for Britons be ‘re-educated’ about Brexit

Hungarian-American investor and philanthropist Mr Soris is estimated to be worth more than $8 billion. Soros grew up in the Nazi-occupied country where he has faced accusations of collaboration and he then emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1947, before moving to the United States in 1956. He has donated more than £2billion to progressive and liberal causes, prompting accusations of political intervention around the globe.

In an interview with the extremist hard-left Guardian, Soros was asked why he had funded Better for Britain, a pro-Remain group which is advocating tactical voting in a bid to derail Brexit. Better for Britain was set up by high profile controversial ‘businesswoman’ Gina Miller.

Soros replied:

“It falls into the category of what I call political philanthropy. Brexit is a process of disintegration that hurts both sides. It hurts Britain more on a pro rata basis and Europe more in absolute terms.

Most importantly, European values can be better defended if the two of them are united. My contributions were not used for partisan or electoral purposes.

They were used to educate the British public.”
