Volunteer organisation UsforThemUK has realised a heart-breaking video emphasising the negative effects on UK children during the lockdowns when they have been unable to attend schools.
launched in May 2020 in response to the first wave of closures of schools across the UK, UsforThemUK states their aim is to ‘campaign for children’s needs to be prioritised in response to decisions on Coronavirus, and beyond. We speak for children because we believe that a society which put children first would be brighter and fairer. We speak for children because often children cannot speak for themselves.’

They miss friends. They miss routine. They miss hobbies.
This is not adults. This is children.
Children are at breaking point. They need their lives back.

Their website usforthem.co.uk goes on to state: “We speak for children of the United Kingdom regardless of birthplace or socio-educational circumstances. We speak for children in state school as well as those in private school.
“We speak for them because unlike many other groups, children don’t vote or have unions. We speak for them because we are hardwired to protect them, and because we love them.”
A video posted to their Twitter page today told of the drastic impacts lockdown is having on young children who are increasingly becoming isolated become of the lack of face to face social interactions with their peers, the organisation is urging the Government to re-open schools with immediate effect or ‘at the very least to publish the work it has done to show that the schools shutdown is proportionate and takes account of the huge amount of harm we know we are causing to our children both today and in the future.’
