Hundreds of people have attended a “yellow vest” protest in the centre of Dublin yesterday in protests at the failings of the government of Southern Ireland.
Yellow Vests Ireland took to the streets on Saturday afternoon in a show of strength as French protests continue. Yellow vest protests have also been seen across the UK, Portugal, Canada and even as far away as Brazil!
Protesters wore hi-visibility jackets and sang anti-establishment chants including: “Banks got bailed out, we got sold out”.
Those who gathered outside the Custom House overlooking the River Liffey said they planned to march to Parliament at Leinster House every Saturday into the new year.
Their aims include an immediate stop to all housing evictions, the resignation of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Health Minister Simon Harris. Others were pictured with signs saying ‘No To The EU Army’.
Organisers said the movement is “recognition of the desire and right of all people to live, work and thrive in a safe modern and dignified manner”.
For a short time the demonstrators followed a similar pattern to those in the UK by bringing central Dublin traffic to a standstill.
The Yellow Vest protests originated in France but have since spread around Europe and the world. For many it is a revolt of the forgotten people who feel that globalism & bad Government has resulted in the decay of Western Society. More UK protests are planned in the New Year.
