A video that supposedly shows the slaying of two Scandinavian girls in a remote part of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains is likely authentic according to Norwegian Police. Unity News Network has seen the video footage online but we will not be sharing it. The footage is absolutely horrific and deeply disturbing.
Norway’s National Criminal Investigation Service has been investigating the footage circulating on social media and concluded “There is no concrete evidence indicating the video is not real.”
Morocco’s general prosecutor also confirmed that a video in which the suspects swear allegiance to the Islamic State and threaten to carry out attacks is authentic. Commenting on that video, the NCIS said that “neither Norway nor Denmark was mentioned in the video, nor was there anything specific about what action they should perform.”
Four men have been detained in Morocco, and authorities there consider the killings of two female students to be an act of terrorism. The women from Norway and Denmark had been hiking, and two French hikers discovered their bodies on Monday.
24-year-old Louisa Vesterager Jespersen of Denmark and 28-year-old Norwegian citizen Maren Ueland knew each other from the same University in Southern Norway that they attended and had been planning the trip for some time.
It appears that the girls may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time and were targeted as they were Westerners. Maren Ueland had previously shared a post on social media that was German Government propaganda extolling the virtues of open-borders policy.
Many on social media have commented that the liberal and naïve teachings from Scandinavia and other parts of Europe led these girls to believe that Morocco was a safe country.
