Theresa May has tonight wielded the axe to Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson after it appears he was the source of the Huawei 5g leak after concerns were expressed over an infrastructure contract being passed to the Chinese Government. However closer to home well known and respected veteran and veterans rights campaigner Trevor Coult has published yet more explosive text concerning veterans being mis- treated over their service in Northern Ireland.

Trevor Coult has tweeted:

This is utterly shocking and needs media attention!

The Good Friday Agreement excluded security forces!

He appears to have published a briefing paper for the Prime Minister of the time, Tony Blair, dated 4th May 2001. The subject matter is in relation to OTR’S or On the Runs who were predominantly provisional IRA terrorists. Many letters were sent out to these murderers assuring them that if they returned to Northern Ireland or were freed from jail they would not face retrial or extradition proceedings.

There has always been speculation as to why soldiers were not granted immunity and this text reads:

The legislation should exclude members of the security forces from the amnesty arrangements, though we should not underestimate the difficulty of holding this line in Parliament in the face of an inevitable press campaign.

There has long been suspicion that the Blair Government were overly generous to the terrorist organisations and allowed numerous spurious allegations to made against the armed forces. The Tories came to power promising that this would stop but in light of the upcoming Soldier F trials and potentially another 20 more this doesn’t appear to be the case.
