Alan Sugar has attacked Brexit during the opening episode of The Apprentice on Wednesday with a smug and arrogant dig warning that Britons may not be welcome in European nations following the UK’s departure from the bloc in March 2019.
The controversial businessman announced he was sending the competition’s 16 contestants to Malta, but felt the need to tell the candidates to “enjoy it while we’re still welcome”.
Sugar is a massive remain supporter and has referred to Brexit as a ‘nightmare’. Speaking previously on talkRADIO, he said that we must do everything we can to secure a supposed favourable ‘deal’
Dear Prime Minister, stick with it, just stick with it. Ignore all the nonsense because you cannot negotiate in an open arena. The British Government under the leadership of Theresa May is negotiating with the European Union – the worst thing that could happen is having negotiations out in the open.
We may have some trump cards up our sleeves and we just don’t want to disclose it.
I’m wishing and hoping that is the case and in a month’s time we will be told, ‘Done deal’.”
He also previously stated that most people didn’t actually know what they were voting for with Brexit: “I think what happened was – no disrespect to middle England – they didn’t understand what they were voting for.
But I tell you what, in five years’ time when it’s all sorted out they are not going to like themselves because it’s going to be an absolute nightmare.”
Social media saw a mixed response with quotes like: “No Brexit jokes Lord Sugar please. We’re trying to have fun here.”
Another stated: “It’s only been seven minutes and anti-Brexit remarks already. Hope it’s not like this all series.”
Many remainers were delighted with one saying: “Good on Lord Sugar for his subtle Brexit shambles references regarding the uncertainty of Brexit for business, removal of our free movement to countries like Malta within the EU and the poor UK economic outlook Brexit is bringing us.”
One other user with an EU flag in their bio said: “Lord Sugar just summed up Brexit with, ‘enjoy Malta while we’re still in’.”
Unity News Opinion- The Apprentice used to be a quality entertaining show about the values of small entrepreneurial business people. It is now just a charade of false people with false faces filled with botox and lip fillers as they try to make a name for themselves, and that is just Sugar and his cronies!
It is yet another complete waste of licence payers money and serves as a platform yet more liberal pro-remain nonsense. It is not a surprise that more and more people are turning off or not paying their licence fee altogether.
