The United Kingdom’s Border Force has intercepted at least two more boats carrying suspected illegal migrants crossing the English Channel to Kent.
The news comes after the arrival of 17 suspected illegal migrants in two boats on Sunday who were brought into Dover by a Border Force cutter and transferred to immigration officials for processing.
Ten men and two women were in the first vessel, intercepted at about 03:00 BST.
The second vessel carrying five men, who said they were from Sudan, was discovered at about 13:00.
So far at least 1,480 suspected illegal migrants have crossed to the UK during the coronavirus lockdown with the government struggling to tackle the number of people making the illegal trip.
The Home Office Tweeted on the 10th June saying: “Small boat crossings are facilitated by ruthless criminals with no regard for the safety of those they smuggle.”
