The Brexit Party chairman Richard Tice has said local authorities are trying to cover up and hide the scale of the number of illegal migrants in hotels across the country.
Mr tice appeared on Mike Graham’s show on talkRADIO and accused local councils of a “cover-up” to rehouse illegal migrants as asylum seekers.
Mr Graham suggested that local councils were attempting to run a “clandestine operation” to rehouse illegal migrants on a permanent basis in empty hotels across the UK.
Tice replied: “I think they all absolutely know about it…Actually, councils and local authorities view it as too politically incorrect to raise this issue.”
He continued: “They know what’s been going on and they’ve been trying to ignore it and cover it up because it’s in the ‘too difficult’ box.”
His comments follow after Home Secretary Patel has threatened to “send in” the Royal Navy to deter boats carrying illegal migrants such from crossing the English Channel from France following a recent spike in new arrivals last week.
Further to this, the Home Secretary has appointed former Royal Marine Dan O’Mahoney to spearhead action against illegal migrants crossing the Channel.
Ms Patel said: “The number of illegal small boat crossings is appalling.
“Dan’s appointment is vital to cutting this route by bringing together all operational partners in the UK and France.
“This is a complex problem but across government, we are working to address many of these long-standing issues and make this route unviable by arresting the criminals facilitating these crossings and making sure they’re brought to justice.”
