Nigel Farage and Richard Tice have been given the green light from the Electoral Commission to rebrand the Brexit Party after the United Kingdom’s successful departure from both the European Union and subsequent transition arrangements.
The move was first reported on Twitter from Chief Political Correspondent and Assistant Editor, of the Daily Telegraph – Christopher Hope wrote: Nigel Farage and Richard Tice get the green light from the Electoral Commission to rename the Brexit Party as Reform UK.
“One of Reform UK’s policies is to ease Covid-19 restrictions.
“The pair are planning to stand over 1,000 candidates at the local elections this year.”
Announcing the news themselves Reform UK released a statement saying: “The Brexit Party is pleased to confirm that the Electoral Commission has approved its name change application to Reform UK with immediate effect.”
The leader of the Party, Nigel Farage said: “This is great news and the perfect time in the New Year. The need for Reform is greater than ever as we try to recover from Covid.
“We have a huge opportunity as a nation post Brexit, but there are many areas of the UK that need real, bold reform: our economy, House of Lords, BBC, civil service, voting system to mention a few.”
Richard Tice, Chairman of Reform UK said: “the name change reflects what our country needs: Reform. Real change to benefit the people, to make our nation more successful.
“We must reform our approach to Covid, and reform the economy so that it incentivises the self employed, entrepreneurs and small businesses.
“Faster growth for all will be achieved by reforming our taxes, unnecessary regulation and wasteful government spending.”
A new logo has also been approved by the Electoral Commission for Reform UK to use, it is broadly the same as the Brexit Party’s logo however has the words Reform UK within the arrow.
