UNN’s Oliver Down has learnt that the television newsman who was the first to report of a secret meeting between the former President Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch on her private jet in 2016 has died of an apparent suicide.
Police in Alabama were called to the home of Cristopher Sign, who was 45, at 8:13am on Saturday amid a call informing them that a person was in need of police attention. When first responders arrived at Mr Sign’s home they discovered the body of Christopher Sign, who was a former University of Alabama football player as well as veteran broadcast journalist.
Mr Sign’s death is being investigated by police as a suicide at this stage. Back in 2016, Cristopher Sign reported that former President Clinton had met with Lynch on her private jet at Phoenix Airport. Allegations were made that the conversation they had centred around an ongoing investigation into whether Hillary Clinton’s had used a private email server whilst Secretary of State. If this was proved it would have been illegal.
Bill Clinton and Loreta Lynch state that the chat was an impromptu friendly chat. Days after their meeting, the FBI chose not to bring criminal charges against Hillary, who at the time was running a presidential campaign. However, less than two weeks before the 2016 election, the investigation was re-opened after emails were found on a laptop belonging to Anthony Weiner who was the former congressman and husband of Clinton aide Huma Abedin.
Eric S. Land, who is the Group Vice President and General Manager at Sinclair Broadcast Group has said: ‘Our deepest sympathy is shared with Chris’s loving family and close friends. We have lost a revered colleague whose indelible imprint will serve forever as a hallmark of decency, honesty and journalist integrity. We can only hope to carry on Chris’s legacy. May his memory be for blessing’.
