Many citizens in the UK have long become frustrated at the length of time Britain has been under COVID restrictions. Whilst many of these restrictions have been enforced by the police, the so called ‘COVID marshals’ have also played their part in enforcement.
The Prime Minister Boris Johnson has repeatedly stated that he plans for Britain to be free from COVID restrictions on his stated date of the 21st of June 2021. However, UNN’s Oliver Down has learnt that the COVID marshals are now being recruited by Hertfordshire County Council on contracts that run from the 1st of July 2021 until the 31st of January 2022. As a result of this information, many may ask that if the Prime Minister intends on Britain being restriction free by the summer of this year. Why do these marshals have contracts that run from after the Prime Ministers stated date that restrictions will end until early 2022?
Whilst, as of Tuesday morning, not one ‘Mainstream Media’ publication has run this story. The political commentator Isabel Oakeshott said via Twitter “Whoa look at this! A contract worth up to £3m to provide “COVID marshals” this summer – starting AFTER all restrictions allegedly end. Still think we’ll get our freedom back on June 21?”.
The Twitter user @berniespofforth reacted to these developments by saying: “If restrictions end on the 21st of June, then why are Covid Marshalls being recruited to the value of £3million by councils from the 1st of July? It isn’t over! Not until we refuse to allow it to continue”.
