The House of Commons on October 19th just confirmed the death of Parliamentary democracy
The debate on the renewal of the Coronavirus Act was a disgrace to British Parliamentary democracy.
It consisted of only ninety minutes of debating time which the government had given, which was outrageously short for such an important piece of legislation.
Not only was the content of the debate a complete insult to the suffering British people have had to put up with it for nineteen months, it was nodded through without a division ( no recording of the votes ).
This debacle can be blamed not just on the government, but on every single Member of Parliament, for allowing this shambles and discrediting of democracy to take place.
Crucial in this absolute mess was the appalling conduct of the so called Her Majesty’s “Opposition,” who decided not to oppose this six month renewal of the Act, and did not call for a Division. ( This meant that MPs could only agree or not agree, and the Act was nodded through.
The government and the Opposition in the Parliament which is supposed to represent the interests of the British people, were also supported in their betrayal by virtually the whole of the mainstream media.
The public were kept in the dark about what was going on
The public had little idea that the Coronavirus Act was going to be renewed simply because the mainstream media decided not to tell them. This is the state of the media in the country today- that it is simply no longer free, questioning or independent. It is a truly sad state of affairs for a great nation to be in- to have both a Parliament and a media which does not protect and safeguard the cherished values of democracy and freedom many previous generations had fought so hard to preserve and enhance.
It seems that a broad brush of the Establishment has supported the draconian actions of this government.
On top of all this, to make matters worse, a number of well- known charities ,not for profit and political organisations, who usually stand up for liberty, democracy and freedom, were conspicuous in their absence from making any comments in favour of standing up for what they normally believe in.
Who actually controls what is going on ?
What is it about this situation we are in that so many people and organisations seem to be in fear of defending what they hold dear? It is not an acceptable situation to be in- where it is perceived that the globalist deep state interests must not be opposed.
With reference to the Coronavirus Act ( which was supposed to be for only three weeks), it was known that it was due for renewal by the end of September. Arguably any time after that, it was illegal, but the government has no interest in what others think of their actions, whether such actions are legal or not.
The government has become one of the “Untouchables,” where they perceive they can do and say exactly what they want.
The government, if they had any interest in accountability and our democratic system, would have provided adequate notice of this renewal debate so that British citizens had the opportunity to contact their MP’s to voice their views on the subject. The deliberate short notice of the debate, barely over five days, was deliberately designed to reduce any opposition and any lobbying of MPs on the subject. It was nothing short of a disgrace and a flouting of democracy. It made the decision making procedures in the UK akin to those in present and past authoritarian countries. The reason for this is that we have become an authoritarian country by stealth, and the population has been lulled into sleepwalking into a dictatorial society.
From the point of view of those fighting for freedom and the removal of the Coronavirus Act, the government tactics made it very difficult to put up an effective opposition. There were efforts to lobby MPS on 19th October and all credit to those who turned at short notice to do so, especially to try to influence MPs, most of which had lost their respect many months ago.
It is clear that the government and Parliament are going to take no notice of any opposition to their covid-19 policies and will continue with relentless disregard for the opinions of millions of the population who do not agree with them.
At present there is a Parliamentary Petition for a national Referendum on the abolishing of the Coronavirus Act. In just three weeks this has attracted over 78,000 signatures, despite having been no platformed by the mainstream media. ( Just one mention they know would bring in about 500,000 signatures).
It is now more important than ever to sign this Petition as clearly a Referendum is the only option that is left to return our society to sanity.
At 100,000 signatures the Petition is considered for a Parliamentary debate and at that stage there is a real chance of progress being made.
When the Petition hit the 54,000 stage, the government rejected it and gave no reasons for saying why they would not allow a Referendum.
This has exposed the government to a correct charge of hypocrisy as they were quite happy to get into government on the back of a previous referendum. This is nothing but double standards.
MPs will be put in a very difficult position if they refuse to grant a Referendum which has been legitimately called for under our democratic procedures. How can any MP, who professes a devotion to democracy, deny a Referendum? If they do they simply confirm that there is no longer democracy and government by consent of the people in this country.
The government do not want a Referendum because they know that rules stipulate that each side must have equal media time. That would be a disaster for them ! They have not allowed equal media time to those with alternative covid-19 policies for nineteen months ! Why should they start now ?! They don’t want their cause to be exposed as mostly a pack of lies ! Many of them would end up on trial for the damage they had inflicted on the British public.
It is necessary to pursue the case for a Referendum, not just to have the voice of truth and reason heard, but to have the courage and tenacity to win in. It can be won!
It will open debate on the whole government Covid-19 “policies,” including the need to reform the 1984 Public Health Act. This will be like a domino theory- if the Coronavirus Act domino falls, so others will fall too.
Those fighting for freedoms and freedoms from coercions and covid-19 vaccine passports, mandates and more, have many campaigns to fight in this major war for our liberty. The campaign for a Referendum is a vital part of a strategy which we can win ! The link for this Petition is:
