More questions asked over David Lammy expenses

UNN’s Oliver Down has this week been involved in a war of words with the Labour Party MP for Tottenham David Lammy MP. Going forward UNN is looking to do more work surrounding MP’s expenses. UNN has also been in contact from a member inside Mr Lammy’s parliamentary team in an attempt to put a series of questions directly to Mr Lammy. On the 1st of November 2017 Mr Lammy received a donation for “champions league hospitality at Wembley”. This donation was costed at £837.60. These donations may be seen as important to many, especially given that Mr Lammy rents an office Tottenham Hotspur.

Mr Lammy’s parliamentary office was asked questions relating this issue on Tuesday and was informed of UNN running this story and asked for explicit comment on Thursday. UNN is yet to receive a response to these questions. On the 1st of November Tottenham Hotspur had a historic 3-1 victory over Real Madrid and as a self-confessed avid Tottenham Hotspur supporter Mr Lammy would have been understandably ecstatic. However, some may question the potential conflict of interest that this donation causes, especially given during the previous year Mr Lammy had business dealings with Tottenham Hotspur.

In addition to requesting comment from Mr Lammy, UNN has also offered an invitation to Mr Lammy for him to come live with David Clews. Once again UNN has not received a response. Mr Lammy’s previous media appearances only this year landed him in hot water. In April of this year Andrew Neil grilled Mr Lammy on his comparison of the ERG group to Nazi’s. Mr Lammy’s response to this was to state that’s “not strong enough”. To some comparing those who wish to leave the EU to a regime who murdered 6 million Jews may be strange. In the aftermath of this Mr Lammy was backed by Michael Heseltine who stated he saw a “chilling” comparison to the pre-WW2 period.
