Controversial Labour MP for Tottenham, David Lammy, has said he would be willing to “pour whatever I can get my hands on” over a white supremacist during a rant about “hard right” politics. This could interpreted that he would be supportive of Acid Attacks on other people. Many people tagged The Met Police in on these comments as well.
The MP for Tottenham defended the tone of his attacks on Steve Bannon and Boris Johnson during a Twitter debate with Tim Montgomerie, founder of the ConservativeHome website.
Lammy described Steve Bannon as a “hard right, white supremacist” and also accused Boris of being a “pathological liar” for claiming he had no association with Mr Bannon. This came as a video surfaced over the weekend showing Mr Bannon stating that he had helped Boris Johnson with a speech.
After Tim Montgomery criticised his tone for a second time, the Tottenham MP replied:
“What is it about those that would like to be considered “English Gentlemen” when they are called out for being nothing less than thugs.”
This isn’t about social media you snake. It’s about the Hard Right, White Supremacy and [Boris Johnson]’s fickle pursuit of power whatever the cost.”
How low will your apologism sink? You think me calling out Boris Johnson is “no better” than him taking advice from Bannon who wears “racist” and “xenophobe” as a “badge of honour”? Are you paid to be Boris’ stooge or just morally bankrupt?”
Many on Twitter have said that this is an express breach of Twitter’s terms of service in that it supports violence and is also abusive against Mr Montgomerie. Many have reported Mr Lammy’s account and Twitter have been approached for comment but haven’t responded as yet.
