Democracy versus Dictatorship

By Vince Cawthron:
We must never allow ourselves to become lethargic or apathetic or despondent over those that we assign authority to on our behalf I am not foolish to believe that there is an ‘Ideal or Perfect Democracy’ but the UK Democratic governance (thanks to the internet) is being exposed for what it really is and has been for far too many decades/ centuries. Two current Bills transiting through both Houses of Parliament and that I am very wary of are Data Protection and Digital Information Bill in its final stages through Parliament, and the Defamation, Privacy, Freedom of Expression, Data Protection, Legal Services and Private Investigators Bill currently transiting through the House of Commons. If people even actually bother to read the ‘Long Title’ of these Bills they will probably not be over concerned because the wording is deliberately chosen to not raise concern. Bear in mind in how much the Government work together with the main stream media to hide the Truth through censorship and replace it with lies and deceit. The same will be enacted by Government in their aspiration to take control of the Internet in a similar fashion. Therefore we will get what we do not want and lack of opposition will result in the UK People suffering the consequences as such. Governance and Politics is not complicated, there is a degree of complexity which is not difficult to understand when one researches accordingly.
The subject is:
Democracy versus Dictatorship
Democracy – a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state/country, typically through elected representatives. Sounds good in theory but needs to be managed and monitored by the Population otherwise it transforms into Dictatorship. We in the UK (not excluding the fake democracy within other countries/states) do not live within a True Democracy (A true democracy upholds the basic human rights of its citizens as outlined in its laws, agreements or constitution. These rights amongst many include freedom of religion, freedom of speech, equal protection under the law, the right to a fair trial and a right to privacy without unwarranted intrusion by the government) , we live within a façade (a deceptive outward appearance) posing as Democracy and behind the curtain is an ever growing Dictatorship. I would suspect that some people will disagree with me because they do not bother to ‘look beyond the end of their noses’ (they only consider what is very close to them, what is very obvious, or what is happening in the near future ).
Dictatorship – a form of government which is characterized by a leader, or a group of leaders, which holds governmental powers with few to no limitations on them.
Note: looking back throughout UK history of Governments they have been more disruptive than constructive in their grasp for Governance.
Political – [adjective] relating to the government or public affairs of a country, [derogative] done or acting in the interests of status or power within an organization rather than as a matter of principle.
UK Parliament – (in the UK) the highest legislature, consisting of the Sovereign, the House of Lords, and the House of Commons. In that context the word Sovereign refers to the Constitutional Monarch – (noun) a supreme ruler, especially a monarch, (adjective) possessing supreme or ultimate power. However in a true Democracy, Sovereignty is owned by the People and resides within the People. Therefore we are all sovereign in accordance with our Inalienable Human Rights.
The House of Commons – the elected chamber of the UK Parliament.
We have a UK population of 67.89 million (as of 2020), the House of Commons has 641 MP’s, 356 Conservatives,196 Labour, 15 Independents, 14 Liberal Democrats, 7 Sinn Fein, 3 Plaid Cymru, 2 Alba Party, 2 Social Democratic Party, 1 Alliance and 1 Green Party. Therefore there is one MP for every 105,912 UK people.
The House of Lords – the unelected chamber of the UK Parliament
We have 798 appointed members of the House of Lords, therefore there is one Lord for every 85,075 UK people.
A point to note is that both Houses in Parliament only sit on average of around 200 days a year out of 365 days a year, yet the UK continues on regardless because in the area of governance it is conducted by civil servants and others employed within the UK Tax bucket services. That should raise awareness that our Democracy can be redesigned without the necessity of Parliament actually session.
[Note in the USA they have two houses of ‘Democratic Governance’, the Congress which has one member pro rata for every 63.214 million USA People, and the USA Senate (upper house) has one member pro rata for every 33.48 million USA People.}. The UK form of democratic governance does not appear to function any better or any more efficient than the USA democratic governance].
My opinion is that the responsibility of elected Members of the House of Commons should be to represent and act on behalf of their electorate for the benefit of their electorate. Surely the non elected members of the House of Lords should have a similar committent with their focus being towards benefit of the whole UK nation. I am not supportive of non elected members of the upper house, referred to as the House of Lords.
I am neither supportive of Prime Ministers and Government Ministers being ‘appointed’ and there is plenty of evidence (if one pays attention) that such appointees are not the best qualified for such positions of authority and decision making which affects us all as UK citizens.
UK Devolved Government – The word devolved means moving powers from the the UK government to local devolved governments in each devolved country within the UK Nation.
Devolved Government was set up in 1999 (during the infamous reign of Tony Blair (or should it be Tony B liar) as Prime Minister. This by nature leads to different policies and processes being adopted within the devolved governments (plenty experience of that over recent years). Also devolved governance is yet another level of government bureaucracy and of course funded via the UK taxation system.
Direct Democracy is a form of democracy in which the electorate decides on policy initiatives without elected representatives as proxies. I am not necessarily proposing this as the only option to regain a True UK Democracy, but many aspects of it empower the People to have a far greater say and influence on how they are governed. In light of the continuing deterioration of the UK Democracy which has become so blatantly obvious over at least the last 3 years (well before that for those that have paid a watchful eye), it is essential that the UK Democracy is revamped/redesigned to what it should be as a ‘True Democracy’ where the Sovereign People control, manage and monitor the Democracy”
I shall be using this material along with other subject matter material on my show on Monday night 30th January (I am hoping that Kate Shemirani will join me on Monday nights show, ref Nurses Oath/Pledge subject), Kate has offered to join, awaiting her confirmation. Regards always Vince.
