Did Xi do it?

By The Truth Reporter

Tucked away in the commentariat a theory emerged – one which may well get labelled as a conspiracy theory although like many of these theories, they seem to fit the available data almost perfectly.

There are some who now have the opinion that the recent harsh lockdown regime in Shanghai and other large urbanisations in China had a secondary motive unconnected with any health outcome. The suggestion is that these harsh lockdowns were designed to block the supply chains from China to the west deliberately to further weaken the USA and speed their decline.

If you have been paying attention to the application of sanctions to Russia due to the invasion of the Ukraine then any detailed analysis will reveal that these sanctions have not only failed to cripple the Russian economy but concomitantly forced Russia to look to alternative more friendly markets for their fossil fuels and simultaneously reshape their currency strategy which has seen the rouble gain in strength after a brief loss early in the conflict.

Vladimir Putin’s actions have been astute and tactically brilliant in the face of the cynical hysterics being played out in western governments but the thought that Xi Jin Ping would basically imprison millions of people in their own homes for the purpose of a geopolitical manoeuvre seems perverse.

The thing is of course, that lockdowns and severe ones at that were common just a year ago, and we have forgotten all too quickly the pictures of riot police beating people who were doing nothing more than leaving their houses.  We also forget that people were prevented from being at the bedside of dying relations for spurious infection control reasons concocted by risk averse and callous hospital managers.

The truth is that Covid was and still is in some areas being used as a cosh to beat people into submission with, in the UK I think we are forgetting all too quickly the horror that the covid farce was and the lives it ruined.

This is not to say that we should not get out and enjoy life as much as humanly possible but what we must never let go is the lies and the utter drivel that ‘experts’ passed off as truth whilst those in power were having parties in their offices. Families were isolated from each other and people became distrustful of each other for nothing, for no benefit whatsoever.

So… would Mr Xi lock down his nation to satisfy a geopolitical goal? – I think he would if there was a significant long term gain to be made by doing it. The fact is that the US is rapidly entering a tail spin of dysfunction combining soaring inflation, supply chain issues and workforce imbalances that threaten to engulf the US.

Xi has seen the lacklustre response to the invasion of Ukraine, a move that Putin would not have dared to engage in ten years ago. We are quite aware that China sees Singapore as their territory and have made no secret that they plan to reclaim it. As the US declines China will soon see that there will be little resistance to any invasion of Taiwan by a west that has become decadent, self obsessed and lazy.
