You may well have missed it, but Elon Musk recently announced that he plans to build and market a fully functional android that can free people from boring and repetitive tasks. Sounds great doesn’t it? You can at last buy that household servant that never complains or steals your toilet rolls.
I have included a link to the report if you wish to check that I am not lying to you, the biggest question I have is how does Elon keep a straight face when he launches these ‘products’ which are not really products but vague concepts backed by slick computer animation and in this case a dancer dressed up in a lycra suit dancing like David Brent on an acid trip.
I don’t plan to go into a full on deconstruction of the utter failure of Musk’s brave new concepts to be transformed into working useful solutions to today’s problems. If you want that then simply look up ‘Thunderfoot’ on YouTube which is a superb science based deconstruction of the cult of Musk.
The dynamic I wish to concentrate on is an examination of how and why the world continues to listen to this man. The people who died a fiery death in their Tesla car after trusting his autopilot systems to notice obstacles in their path on highways are a testament, sadly no longer living, to the folly of placing blind faith in promises that are never kept.
The Tesla Robot is never going to be a product you can buy, and even if it does arrive at some point the most useful thing it is going to be able to do is dance like a drug addled teenager with a stone in their trainers.
Sadly we are now in a world where we are beholden to an orthodoxy where the priests are unchallengeable and unaccountable. Be it Elon Musk, Anthony Fauci or Priti Patel they all tell us things that we can see with our own eyes are not only misleading but provably false. Problematically people choose to find comfort in self delusion that the solution to all the problems are close at hand and within the scope of these deities’ capabilities to solve.
As long as people continue to ‘extend and pretend’ there will be no progress as they have subcontracted their wellbeing and prosperity to people who make a living from telling lies.
The only way forward from here is action on an individual basis, that means you – not your friend or someone you know from Facebook but you. The false narratives only gain traction because people are atomised into small units, social gatherings are now looked upon as somehow transgressive, pubs are closing and traditional community interactions are subjected to the idiocy of COVID measures.
If something is ridiculous then tell people you meet, that might be the supermarket checkout lady or the taxi driver or anyone else you bump into.
The thing the system does not want is debate, this is why you have health bosses in Australia and New Zealand telling people to ignore their friends if they see them in the supermarket.
Strike up conversation – at any opportunity – with anyone who will listen, I can guarantee that many will think you’re mad but in the grand scheme of things does this really matter? Spread your truth, not by shouting into TikTok but politely and calmly with people face to face.
Forming all your attitudes based on what we see on screens is what got us into this mess, the cult of Elon, COVID and all the other troubles are all in some way attributable to the fact that we have become passive recipients, or clients of an information based society that increasingly wants to centralise power and control into the hands a very small elite.
Online banking, automated checkouts, internet shopping, TikTok and Facebook have all detached us from each other – people have become mere nodes in a network, they are ghosts on a screen interacting with other ghosts and the corrupt and cynical power elite can subtly coerce entire populations by gently controlling the message these ghosts propagate.
My advice is to go out and have a conversation, with a real live person. Tell them that Elon’s robots are not coming to take out the rubbish and walk the dog – they’re still going to be doing it in 10 years from now.
