Have you heard of the EU External Action Service? No I thought not.
It is a very covert body sheltered by the EU Council, another unelected body squatting behind closed doors in Brussels. Unlike the EU Commission it is concerned with a European Defence Union – the unification of all the continent’s defence structures.
A 30-page document has just been issued dedicated entirely to “Command and Control” which seems to predicate the transfer of all policies and decisions under these two titles to the EU Council. It looks like a form of takeover of Nato and its roles.
Within the framework of Nato, command and control of our army, navy, airforce, special forces and intelligence remained with Britain – not so with membership of the EU Defence Union. This, as with all EU policy, is like a spider’s web, to be engaged in one part is to be trapped under the strategic control of the Global Strategy in the EU’s Common Security and Foreign Policy. Also “structural co-operation” in intelligence could well spell the end of Britain’ Five Eyes intelligence relationship with America, Canada and New Zealand.
But that doesn’t affect us we are leaving the EU I hear you cry, Boris has assured us unequivocally “he will get Brexit done” right?
A raft of former defence chiefs with enough titles, gold braid and experience to sink a freighter are meeting with complete silence and closed doors where they used to be briefed. And has anyone seen or heard from our Defence Secretary Ben Wallace who appears to be missing in action!
EU negotiators have boasted that they have gained more Defence powers in the 9 months following the EU Referendum than in the 30 years before it.
There have been many warnings raised on this issue – I take you back to the release of the explosive Kit Kat tapes revealed by The Sun newspaper in March 2018.
Top Whitehall officials were caught boasting to EU diplomats that Brexit will be like a Kit Kat with chocolate covering ties to Brussels for years to come. These bombshell tapes were leaked to the Sun and revealed senior civil servants secretly pledging to continue spending taxpayers’ cash propping up Brussels defence and foreign projects – including the controversial “EU Army”.
Senior Brexit Department official Victoria Billing sparked mocking laughter by describing the defence and foreign policy deal sought by the UK as a “Kit Kat” – with layers of chocolate covering the depths of the continued agreement.
And Cabinet Office security adviser Alastair Brockbank who worked at that time for Olly Robbins – told the diplomats that Britain stood ready to continue paying “significant contributions” to controversial common EU defence and foreign policy projects adding: “We are interested in it all”. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/

Then in September 2019 a private briefing took place in Westminster to explain how the European Union is taking over the United Kingdom’s Defence and intelligence capabilities by stealth.
Major Julian Thompson (Royal Marines) outlined the loss of control over our Defence, Security and intelligence services as a result of agreements made by British Ministers and Officials since the UK voted to leave quietly placed within Theresa May’s convoluted Withdrawal Agreement and Political Declaration (nothing has changed on this issue in Boris’s regurgitated version). When this is signed and passed through both houses this becomes bound by legal treaty in international law.
Then came the launch of The Brexit Party’s Defence, Nato & Veteran’s Policy in the run up to the December 2019 election which saw Gwynthian Prins from Veterans for Britain interrupt Ann Widdecombe’s speech on Defence to state Boris in removing the backstop has given a window of opportunity to retain sovereignty on our Defence. Ann shot him down and stated “so it is now an opt in – so why has Boris not unequivocally told the electorate we will be opting out”?
Good question Ann!
This question could be applied to both Prime Minister Johnson and Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace – their silence speaks volumes!

Analysis
We Brexiteers have been bouyed by Boris’s upbeat rhetoric of “Get Brexit Done” a welcome change after nearly 4 years of doom and gloom – he is saying all the right things – except when it comes to Defence and therein lies the problem.
Is Boris handing over Her Majesty’s Military, surrendering the command and control structure to Brussels for promised lucrative Defence Projects?
Of this we cannot be certain but one thing is clear urgent clarification is required.
How can the country celebrate British independence on 31st January – when the truth is without autonomy over our military and intelligence services – we are anything but!!
I wrote my first article for Unity News Network on 30th December 2019, and I have been writing ever since – my library is now well in excess of 200 articles.
Alternative media is essential in these times of unprecedented censorship and mainstream bias, which has ramped up exponentially during the past 2 years. The overton window of “acceptable opinion” is growing every narrower.
Having a citizen’s log, cataloguing the twists and turns of life during these turbulent times is essential.
