Dr. Anthony Fauci says infants ‘shouldn’t have to wait too much longer’ for Covid 19 vaccinations.
“Hopefully within a reasonably short period of time, likely the beginning of next year in 2022, in the first quarter of 2022, it will be available to them. Can’t guarantee it, you’ve got to do the clinical trial.”
Earlier in the year, Pfizer suggested that it might have an Emergency Use Authorization submitted to the Food and Drug Administration by late November for children in the 6 month to 2 year old age group, and that the EUA for 2 to 5 year olds would be submitted alongside that of the 5 to 11 year olds in September.
But Pfizer hasn’t submitted any clinical trial data to the FDA for children under 5 yet.
At some point, COVID-19 vaccines will likely be recommended for all children, down to six months of age, or even younger.
