The Scottish ‘comedian’ Frankie Boyle has caused outrage following a tweet about Prime Minister Boris Johnson who is currently battling coronavirus. The tweet was described as “vile” by one Twitter user and was met with expletives by others. Frankie Boyle is an outspoken supporter of the Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and took to Twitter to say, “certainly not beyond Johnson to just pretend that he has died until it’s all over”. Mr Boyle’s tweet comes against the backdrop of Mr Johnson self-isolating inside Number 10 after he was diagnosed with the corona virus last week.
The tweet was met with fury by some. One responder said “Give the man a break, why don’t you. Love your comedy but, goodness, what more can the man do? He’s only human, after all……”. Another responder went further “Frankie I love you dearly but at this point f*** off with this s***, feel free once were back on our feet but for now wee man just leave it”.

Mr Boyle is no fan of the Prime Minister and has previously compared Mr Johnson to 1930s fascist leader Oswald Moseley, trapped in the form of a soft toy. In an article on Brexit Mr Boyle said “Boris’s actual purpose? He’s just there to divert us from the horrific things the government is planning like a nodding dog stuck to a serial killer’s dashboard. The media has a lot to answer for in terms of promoting the image that Boris is sweet and cuddly, when in fact he’s more like Oswald Mosley’s soul trapped in a Furby”.
As of Thursday afternoon, there has been 29,474 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK and 2,352 deaths.
