The suspect charged after the bodies of two women were found in a freezer refused to appear in court yesterday.
Zahid Younis, 34, is accused of two counts of preventing the lawful and decent burial of the women following the gruesome discovery in April this year.
The bodies of Henriet Szucs, 34, and 38-year-old Mihrican Mustafa were found in a chest freezer at the property in Custom House, east London.
Kingston Crown Court heard the cause of their deaths may not be determined for at least three more months.
The short hearing took place in the absence of Younis who was said to be suffering from chest problems.
Peter Ratliff, prosecuting, said: “This work, forensic work is unusual and difficult but necessary.
Judge Peter Lodder QC said: “It’s clear that the post mortem examinations may take as long as into November.”
Noting members of Ms Mustafa’s family were sat in the public gallery, the Judge said: “It’s very clear, indeed it was anticipated by Mr Penny on the last occasion that the post mortem examinations in this case would be difficult and it’s quite clear from your very helpful note that the details of those examinations are of a distressing nature.
“It does not seem to me necessary at this hearing to go into those details.”
Earlier the judge said: “The defendant has declined to join us. There is a note to suggest that he is suffering from chest ailments and something to the effect that he had spoke to his solicitors and that there was he thought the possibility of a, what he described, as a video line.”
Mark Gatley, defending, said: “He’s reported various physical symptoms to those instructing me so that comes as no particular surprise.
“I would ask that he would be permitted to attend future mention hearings via video links.”
The case was adjourned to October 25 where Younis was given leave to appear via prison video link. A provisional trial date was set on April 14.
Younis was arrested after police discovered the bodies in the ground floor flat where he lived in Vandome Close.
Scotland Yard then launched a murder probe.
