Controversial BBC pundit Gary Lineker has been at the centre of a ferocious twitter firestorm after promoting a leaflet that contained blatant inaccuracies about what could happen in the event of a ‘no deal’ Brexit.
Lineker has over 7 million followers on Twitter and he has faced severe criticism from BBC colleagues and the wider public over what they see as his blatant abuse of BBC impartiality laws. He has recently been engaging with hyper-partisan sources such as James O’Brien of LBC promoting his divisive rhetoric.
The Department of Health then tweeted back to Lineker stating that the information he was putting out was ‘Fake News’.
He then received a barrage of criticism from members of public and Steve Baker asked him to retweet the official rebuttal against him.
As of the time of writing Lineker has yet to issue an apology or retraction…
