Reports are emerging that Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite and former associate of Jefferey Epstein, is being moved from what is described as “cell to cell” in her Brooklyn prison as a result of fears that someone will try to assassinate Maxwell before she stands trial.
A report in the New York Post has already The Post revealed how that the 58-year-old has been forced to wear paper clothes and sleep on a bare mattress so that it is not possible that she could hang herself.
Now, in a further development an insider has said that the that prison officials are so “terrified someone will try to kill her” that Maxwell is constantly being moved around the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn where she is currently being held.
The insider has also said : “She is being moved from cell to cell and sometimes has a cellmate, sometimes not. Jeffrey Epstein died behind bars and they are terrified someone will try to kill Ghislaine. She was in deep shock at first, but she is getting better each day. She is not a whiner or complainer”. Finally, the source described Maxwell as “far from the perfectly groomed socialite seen in photographs”.
The American former prison warden Cameron Lindsay has stated that the risks for high-profile inmates like Maxwell are real in US jails. Mr Lindsay said, “To take someone out like that, that would be a badge of honour in the subculture of prisons”.
Maxwell is accused of four counts of sex trafficking as well as two counts of perjury and was transferred to the facility after her arrest in New Hampshire. She is expected to appear in court via video link today.
