If Covid-19 don’t get ’em, staff shortages will

Julia Hartley-Brewer, anchor-lady of talkRADIO TV, said this week that when the conspiracy theories come true you must begin to wonder about what the conspiracy theorists are saying. And when JHB speaks like this, you have to listen as she has long proclaimed that she does not subscribe to conspiracy theories. She was referring to the betrayal of the ‘double-jabbed’ who complied on the understanding that this would allow them to travel freely and, for many of them, to go about their occupation and earn a living without restriction. The betrayal is the announcement that free movement many be contingent on taking a booster jab. Thus, as predicted by many who were initially dismissed as cranks, there is simply no end to this. Those in charge (whoever they are) want to control our lives and, especially, to restrict our movements. Travel will soon be the preserve of the triple-jabbed, then the quadruple-jabbed and, if we have not all died of Covid-19, the ill-effects of lockdown and the side effects of a vaccine, then the quintuple-jabbed will rule the earth.

I have long been questioning one of the basic tenets of the conspiracy theorists, that ‘they are out to kill us’ making millions ill and killing millions by way of the vaccine. I have never been sure to whose benefit this would be or that the vaccines could actually achieve it. But when a Bishop of my own church weighs in—and I believe he is not a newcomer to the debate—to say that the jab is the work of the global elite and should be resisted by the Catholic Church (instead of being made mandatory in the Vatican City as it has by Woke Francis) and that this is aimed at making millions ill as a step on the way to the Great Reset advocated by Davos you also have to listen. It is hard to avoid the conclusion that the vaccine rollout, the emphasis on vaccine mandates for health workers and the sacking of swathes of health workers who are not vaccinated are all part of the same programme. If they are not, then they seem to be achieving the same aim and the most obvious one is the death of thousands of vulnerable older people. Euthanasia without consent (aka murder).

We have already seen, pre-Covid vaccines, how the lockdown measures and the severe restriction to visiting combined with the mass export of older people from hospitals to care homes has killed thousands. Older people were warehoused in nursing homes to make way for the overwhelming of the NHS that never took place by a virus that hardly kills anyone except the very old and the medically compromised. Packing older people, already vulnerable, into nursing homes where their chances of contracting Covid-19 were surely increased but without the comforting sight of close relatives could only ever have had one outcome. But it was also the perfect excuse to impose a vaccine mandate on care home staff—after the ‘pandemic’ was over—which was surely a herd of horses short of a bolted stable door.

And so, it passed that vaccine mandates for people working in care homes are set to take effect on 11 November. This is a sector that already has over 100,000 vacancies where over 10% have not yet taken—as should be their absolute right*—two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine. There are calls to, at least, push back the deadline as the shortage of care home staff is described a ‘critical’. Nadra Ahmed, executive chairman of the National Care Association told the BMJ that the loss to the sector resulting from mandatory vaccination could reach 70,000 workers. This situation is clearly not conducive to the care of the older people in the nursing homes. As vulnerable as they may be to Covid-19 (apparently not miraculously protected by the wonderful vaccines that were initially rolled out ‘only’ to vulnerable people), older people in care homes are definitely more vulnerable to neglect, poor care or—in extreme cases of short-staffing—no care. The solution to such shortages sometimes relies on the good offices of friends and relatives to compensate. But that base has been covered by severely restricting the frequency and length of visits and the numbers of visitors. In short, more older people will die in care homes and it will not be the result of Covid-19, it will be a direct result of vaccine mandates. Moreover, many hard working and already underpaid people will lose their livelihood. Our Secretary of State for ‘Health’ and Social ‘Care’ Sajid Javid, summed up the government’s empathetic attitude saying “Care home staff should get the jab or another job”. The mainstream trades unions have been largely quiet and unhelpful on the issue of mandatory vaccines. One notable exception has been the Workers of England Union.

Next up, the NHS. Here another crisis is looming, even worse than the crisis it is already experiencing. A vaccine mandate has been introduced but will not come into effect until next April. Strange when you consider that we are heading into peak viral infection season, possibly including a reprise by the novel coronavirus. You might think there would be more urgency. The reprieve regarding the mandate is to give reluctant staff time to take up the vaccine, a kind of ‘let them come to their senses’ period. But in the meantime, hundreds, if not thousands will resign and the NHS, already barely functioning in some areas, may cease to function altogether. According to Chris Hopson, the chief executive of NHS Providers, the NHS is “under huge pressure and carrying 93,000 vacancies” and that is before the vaccine mandate takes effect. Covid-19 jabs are not something the NHS needs and, while being made mandatory to solve a problem that essentially does not exist, they are going to exacerbate one that already exists. Looking over the Atlantic, vaccine mandates have had a terrible effect on employment levels across the whole healthcare sector in the United States. These adverse effects on the clinical workforce can only have a detrimental effect on patient care, indeed, on patient survival in hospitals. It is quite clear to me that if Covid-19 does not kill you, a visit to hospital might.
