Today as of writing, at least five boats and around another 70 suspected illegal migrants have been intercepted in the English Channel.
The first boat was intercepted at 4.30am and the incidents are currently ongoing with more boats predicted by some to arrive later in the day.
This follows the news that yesterday a record number of suspected illegal immigrants crossed the Channel, it is thought more than 140 people were brought ashore to Dover on Friday (08/05/20) and today (09/05/20) at least five boats and around another 70 migrants have been intercepted.
Earlier this week, Home Secretary Priti Patel held a telephone call with her French counterpart Christophe Castaner after the number of migrants reaching UK shores, she is hoping to broker a deal to allow the UK to send illegal immigrants back to France if they crossed from the country.
Unity News Network (UNN) understands that since the coronavirus lockdown began on 23 March, over 700 people have illegally made the journey across the channel.
HM’s government has repeatedly warned illegal immigrants not to attempt to make the dangerous crossing by small boat and promised they would stamp out the illegal gangs taking advantage of those wanting to enter the UK. Last year alone, two migrants illegally entering the United Kingdom drowned in separate incidents.
The Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage in recent weeks has been trying to raise more attention to the issue of illegal immigration and just how prevalent it is, as a result of him leaving the house to make videos at Dover he had a visit from the Kent Police.
Mr Farage has now issued a letter of complaint to Kent Police over the incident and demanded to know why he was visited by officers when his work is essential as a broadcaster.
