I suggested that the UK might be the first of the dominoes to fall in terms of Covid-19 restrictions. It seems I was right as several countries in Europe then followed suit. There is no accounting for the madness that continues in our Commonwealth partners: Australia, Canada and New Zealand. But resistance is growing in these places just as it grew in Europe. Jacinda ‘Gnasher’ Adern says that New Zealand will not lift Covid-19 restrictions in a hurry but will allow travel from its not so close neighbour Australia and selected states (who thinks that Canada will be top of her list?). Australia has opened its international borders but there is such confusion about restrictions at state borders that no sane person would want to go.
There is a long way to go, and we have our own Covid-obsessed enclave within the UK, Sadiq Khan’s London. But it appears that even the vaccine passports are being discontinued in Germany and Austria which seemed to have slipped back into 1930s style fascism. Since I last visited the issue the UK has pulled back from its threat to sack unvaccinated NHS workers, although it continued to threaten nursing and other health students with being unable to complete their courses as the vaccine mandate continued to apply in care homes until the beginning of March. Meantime, how many students had their training discontinued or simply left over a decision to exercise their bodily autonomy? So, what was it all about? Why are vaccine mandates being lifted and why is the push for vaccine passports no longer a priority? More specifically, why is all this happening at the same time?
Undoubtedly, the very real threat of mass civil disobedience and even violence on the streets of nearly every country across Europe must be having some effect. The heroic Canadian truckers have shown what a single-minded and determined group with right on their side, widespread public support and resilience to the lies being perpetrated by Canada’s first black Prime Minister Justin Trudeau can achieve. They have not yet won but it may have sown fear in the hearts of international leaders including the German Chancellor and the Austrian Prime Minister. In the UK the poor optics for the government and the NHS of tens of thousands of NHS staff refusing to be vaccinated and thousands of nurses throwing away their uniforms at Downing Street cannot have failed to have an influence.
But it cannot be dismissed that this has an element of planning to it and, while we proclaim victory, the international vaccine brigade led by Uber-vaccinator William Henry (Bill) Gates III may well be rubbing their hands in glee. They have vaccinated millions across the world and, if they ever had any doubt that it could be done, they now know it can. Was this just a massive international experiment in medical authoritarianism? I doubt we will ever know. But I also doubt that Gates, Fauci and others who have pushed the vaccines on the world care that they have also killed thousands in the process. Thousands killed amongst millions vaccinated makes for a very small percentage of deaths. However, each of the people who have died of vaccine side-effects is 100% dead and, remarkably, nobody seems to care. Least of all the mainstream media.
If this was an experiment, then we have all been guinea pigs—vaccinated and unvaccinated alike. Governments now know how far they can push their populations towards restrictions that were risible on the one hand and deeply damaging on the other. Now they can also profile who is more likely to take a vaccine and those who were resistant. Since the pandemic we have almost become a cashless society, millions have submitted and shared details of their movements and vaccine status through NHS track and trace apps and vaccine passports. The value of our currency is declining as inflation bites, the cost of a tank of fuel costs more than many of the cars that are being filled as prices rise and we have become inured to the concept of the state dispensing millions in handouts (aka ‘furlough’).
