It’s life Jim but not as we know it!

Anyone who tries to tell me that the mainstream media is not part of an overall strategy to herd people’s thinking in one direction probably needs to stop trying. Like the compliant lackeys they are, the press have all conspired to push one narrative this Easter Sunday. 

We have for some weeks been kept in a state of tension with the spectre of vaccine passports being teased and drip fed into the narrative. People have rightly railed against the idea that you need to sign into pubs, restaurants and other facilities with digital ID. I need not repeat the comparisons people are making with the national socialism regime of the 1930’s as they have been repeated so many times. 

The devastating realisation this morning on looking at the Sunday press is that we have yet again been played – and people are falling for it. 

There is an old psychological trick, it is one of the most simple and pervasive deceits that people use and it has been wheeled out again and painted a fresh colour. We all know the gambit, ask for £1000 and you’ll be turned down but then ask for £100 straight after and suddenly it’s hard to refuse. 

This is exactly what the government have done, no doubt with help from our old friends the behavioural insights team. We have been propagandised for weeks that we will need a vaccine passport to just exist in daily life – to obtain the essentials like food and medical care and just when we think things are beyond hope, the government suddenly releases its grip a little and relents on places like pubs and supermarkets. 

You could almost hear the nation exhale in relief as they woke to the news that they could get a pint without having to submit to a range of intrusive surveillance measures to get into their local. But the very next sentence is ‘but vaccine passports will be rolled out for theatres, sports events, concerts….’

Mr Johnson says this will be time limited, this coming from the man who gave us ‘three weeks to flatten the curve’.

Make no mistake – the vaccine passport system has nothing to do with health – how can it? If this was really necessary then it would be required in pubs and supermarkets wouldn’t it? Pubs are more closed in than a sports stadium so surely transmission is more likely in a pub if we are to believe the mechanisms of viral spread we are given by the government. 

Nothing about this pandemic response has been ‘following the science’ because science has to grounded in common sense and basic logic before it can be anything else. A measure designed to limit spread and monitor contagion must be necessary in a pub if it is also necessary in a sports stadium, yet we are expected to suspend our logic and go along with it.

Complying with these measures is tacit acceptance. People who submit to them because they want to go to a sports event or a concert are simply building their own prison. It is quite honestly amazing that people can be bought this cheaply.

These headlines this Easter Sunday are a watershed, you can go one way or you can go another but be under no illusion that there is any middle pathway through this, that you can accept bits and pieces of the tyranny and reject others. It won’t work. The jews in the Warsaw ghettos tried this path, they submitted incrementally to more and more inhumane treatment until eventually being loaded onto the cattle trucks was just one more step in the overall process toward the ovens.

There will be 1001 discussions on how to resist and how to stop this process. I have one basic suggestion that will test your commitment, do you really need your smartphone?

The smartphone will eventually become your digital passport, it knows where you are, who you are with, what you bought, how much money you have and 100 other data points. 

Until the government mandates ownership of a smartphone and is prepared to provide you with one I suggest you make the choice not to carry one – while you are still allowed to make choices this is probably the best one you can make.
