Jacob Rees Mogg HUMILIATES Gauke & Hammond over resignations

On his LBC show yesterday Jacob Rees Mogg has mocked both David Gauke and Philip Hammond over their decisions to resign from the Cabinet with a Boris Johnson victory looking likely.

The Conservative MP for North East Somerset said:

“Coming up in the next hour, the Justice Minister and Lord High Chancellor, David Gauke, has said Britain is about to be humiliated and he will resign if Boris is given the keys, there aren’t actually keys but, given occupancy of Number 10.

Some breaking news, Chancellor Philip Hammond has also nailed his colours to the mast announcing he will step down before Theresa May does on Wednesday.

That will create sadness across the nation that peddler of optimism shall be departing.

The incoming Prime Minister will, therefore, have to appoint an entirely new cabinet, upon accepting his role.

Not only will the Lord Chancellor go, but the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond is going to leave Government before Theresa May does.

I appreciate that undertakers across the country will be sorry to see the leader of their profession going with that cheerful countenance that he so often brings to British political life, but it’s quite an important story.

He’s a big figure in the Conservative Party, he’s been Chancellor of the Exchequer since Theresa May became Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary before that. So the news is significant.

He has indicated he might not be supportive of what Boris Johnson is trying to do, he has even indicated he might vote against the Government in a vote of no confidence and he disobeyed collective responsibility last week by abstaining on a vote in the House of Commons and encouraging others to do the same.

Which is an unusual constitutional position to be in because as a matter of honour ministers ought to resign if they don’t support Government policy rather than hiding in the loos.”

Voting in the race to become the next PM concludes at 17:00 pm today with the result to be announced on Tuesday and then the winner will officially become Prime Minister on Wednesday. Predictions point to a Boris Johnson landslide.
