John Redwood in yet another DEVASTATING attack on Theresa May’s deal

The Prominent Brexiteer and MP for Wokingham has been one of the few MPs to hold firm against what he describes as Theresa May’s ‘withdrawal treaty’. He has been a lifelong eurosceptic and he had this to say today on Twitter:

The last thing we need is an agreement between Labour and Conservatives to stay in the EU and to claim the misnamed Withdrawal Agreement is Brexit

I think we need a new accurate description for the draft Withdrawal Treaty. It should be called the Stay in and pay Treaty, or the Delay, pay and negotiate from weakness Treaty. Any other ideas for accurate names?”

This comes as Theresa May has said she is going to attempt to work with the Labour Party to pursue a soft Brexit with continued close alignment to the EU. This has been met with fierce criticism from Brexiteer MPs but also normally placid and influential Chairman of the 1922 committee Sir Grahame Brady. Mr Brady said:

The temptation for the government now to do whatever is necessary to secure some kind of Brexit agreement is obvious but it must be resisted.

To reach an agreement with Labour that locked the United Kingdom into the customs union might pull in enough Labour votes to allow an agreement to limp over the line.

But the price could be a catastrophic split in the Conservative party and at a time when the Opposition is led by dangerous extremists, the consequences for our country would be unthinkable.
