Lithium, China and the fall of the USA

Isn’t it odd how events dovetail so neatly? Also is it not odd how as one act ends on the world stage another begins immediately afterwards. 

As I am a fan of inviting people to do their own research instead of being spoon fed I simply invite my readers to put the search term ‘China lithium Afghanistan’ into their search engine of choice. 

Now I am ready to accept that some people may cry ‘tinfoil hat’ at the argument I am going to develop here but again, question the evidence and the timing first and then come back and offer me a better explanation which fits these data better and I will happily listen.

The reports that the above search term will return show very clearly that China has plans to mine lithium in Afghanistan – apparently $1Trillion in lithium has been shown to exist under Afghan soil and the Chinese are poised to do deals with the Taliban to extract it for the production of batteries.

I have often quoted the financial analyst Alessio Rastani who made the very astute statement ‘trade what you see’. Essentially he says you should emotionally detach yourself from what a stock or asset is or represents and merely concentrate on whether the price is going up or down. Some may question the ethics of such a strategy when corporate moral behaviour has been shown to be appalling in many instances but he is giving advice on how to make money – and his logic, however cold, works.

China is following Rastani’s law – they are trading what they see. They see massive future demand for electric cars and the batteries that drive them. It doesn’t matter to them that the power grids to charge these cars are not yet built or that the practicality of electric vehicles is far from proven. They can see the green agenda pushing people into the purchase of these cars and the Chinese are going to be in that market satisfying demand. 

You have to give the Chinese credit for their single minded focus and recognise that these people mean business, in every sense. 

The links between China and Biden are well understood but viciously obfuscated by the mainstream media, was Biden chosen because of his frailty? Biden is clearly compromised by his son, who is on video performing many acts that no son of a President should ever be seen doing. Clearly in cognitive decline, Biden is barely in control of his agenda , was China able to foment the accelerated pull out of Afghanistan? Is the country going to be allowed to spiral into multi tribal warfare to level the playing field for another superpower to enter? 

There is only one flaw in the Chinese strategy that I can identify and this is that they are ignoring the lessons of history in relation to Afghanistan and if you want a really good potted account of this history then I really recommend you enter the search term ‘Bitter lake history edited’ into our ‘friends’ at YouTube and watch this documentary. 

Essentially the Afghans know full well that their country has vast untapped mineral wealth but their systems and infrastructure combined with the geography of the country mean that they have no way to capitalise on it unless they invite developed nations to build new facilities to extract this wealth.

You will see if you watch the video that the British tried and failed, the Americans tried and failed, the Russians tried and failed – and all left with nothing after expending lives and huge resources trying to chisel this underdeveloped nation into something that resembled their version of prosperity.

The anecdotal reports from high ranking operatives about the Afghan mindset are far from politically correct but in the nicest possible language it seems that the Afghan people are far from any western conception of a homogenous integrated society. The Afghans are atomised into tribal groups who mostly despise each other, they will briefly align to destroy an incoming threat and then revert to internecine warfare. They will use falsehoods to get foreign forces to settle blood feuds and land disputes and they will sell land they don’t own to anyone stupid enough to bring them wealth to pay for it.

One has to wonder if the Chinese fully appreciate what they are taking on, or if they plan to use a harsher and more repressive strategy to secure their objectives. They should be aware that the Russians used some pretty brutal tactics to try and quell Afghan resistance. There are reports that the Russians would threaten to burn entire villages and massacre the inhabitants unless the Mujahedeen stopped their antics. When the Mujahedeen failed to relent the Russians went through with their threat but this had no effect – the Mujahedeen simply accepted the loss of the village and the people in it as a cost of their war effort. 

From my viewpoint Afghanistan seems much like Tolkien’s Ruling Ring, an item of immense value which eventually corrupts and destroys all who seek to possess it. Like in the Tolkien stories, a lot of people will fight and die in the struggle.
